What is counselling?

Counselling is a talking therapy - essentially, two people talking about feelings, issues or challenges -  to gain more clarity which may lead to changes being made.

As your counsellor, I will provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for this emotional exploration. Together, we will decide upon a focus for the sessions based on your current situation, and will consider what you want to get from participating in the counselling process.

How could counselling help me?

We can face emotional challenges at any time throughout our lives. Sometimes these challenges are easy to recognise, such as anxiety, stress or depression, whereas at other times you may just have a niggling feeling that something isn't quite right - it is at these times that having a qualified counsellor alongside you can help.

Some common reasons that people access counselling for include:

  • Anxiety
  • Low self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia or binge eating
  • Coming to terms with abuse
  • Problems within relationships
  • Bereavement
  • Physical health issues
  • Low mood
